Katy DeGroot has always loved dogs and ever since then, she knew that she would always be a dog mom. On the other hand, her husband Jon was just getting the hang of having so many dogs in the house. It wasn’t that he didn’t like dogs but it was more of he was just used to having only one around. So having so many around took a little getting used to.
The couple already had three dogs at the time and they were all adopted. Their first rescue was Zoey and she was that dog who do not have any personal boundaries. She would always jump at them and cling to them any time of the day. Every morning, she would bring them a gift when they wake up.
Jon was just amazed at how Zoey always slept right next to them but she was still so excited to see them wake up in the morning and greet them. Their second one was Turbo and they did not know much about her story. But Katy fell in love with her the moment she met her and she just had that big head that was even bigger than her body. Turbo was such a sweetheart and a big teddy bear.
And the newest addition to their family was Mike or also known as Mikey or Michael Moo. She was a stray attacked in a shelter and when they brought her home, she was just mellow. Then she grew to be the wildest of the bunch who loved watching TV. Sometimes, she would even stick her whole face in Turbo’s mouth.
Aside from their dogs, Katy also loved fostering. One time she fostered a dog and her puppies who came all the way from Mexico. The puppies were four weeks old back then and they kept them until they were adopted.
At first, the mom was very protective of her puppies and so they just let her be comfortable in her own space. And then gradually she became so trusting of them. She would even lay on their laps and the puppies would do the same. Jon actually feared that they would keep all of them but luckily they all got adopted.
And that was the best part about fostering, meeting their new families, and knowing that they found their forever homes. A year after, they even had a reunion with all of the puppies and it was just so amazing to see them all grown up.
