Amy Cerelli and her boyfriend lived in Harrisonburg, VA with their senior dog named Jersey. Their love for their sweet pup created a beautiful and intimate bond like no other.
One night, Amy went to their garage for cleaning when suddenly, she noticed Jersey disappeared. She suspected he might be under the bed or in his usual spot, but he wasn’t there. Amy became worried and immediately called her boyfriend to help look for their lost doggie.
The couple headed out in the neighborhood with flashlights while squeaking his toy ball to lure him right to them, hoping he would return. But he didn’t.
But they still had the determination to keep on looking. They tried contacting law enforcement and handed out flyers to people coming to her downtown store to spread the word out. Amy even had a few neighbors join in the search, yet no one saw him except one.
Tyion Hepner, a 13-year-old boy, was with his friends playing outside when he saw Jersey and followed him. Not until Jersey started following him that he decided to take the canine home with him.
When he arrived home, his mother saw him with a dog and immediately refused to bring him into the house. He kept convincing her that he should take care of Jersey until he finds his owner. Eventually, his mom yielded, and she lets her son bathe the senior pooch and allows Hepner to look after him.
Two days after Jersey went missing, Amy’s partner began searching for him again. This time Hepner was out in the neighborhood and unexpectedly overheard a man talking about Jersey to an officer nearby identifying him. He quickly realized that he had their lost pup and rushed to them with exciting news.
Jersey returned home to his family safe and happy, all thanks to a young hero and everyone who helped look for their beloved pet dog.
