Often, the creatures who lack the basic senses are the ones who appreciate life more. Like the case of a blind and deaf Australian Shepherd name Braille, who is now gaining popularity online because of his love for music. Despite his shortcomings, this two-year-old absolutely loves playing the piano!
According to Braille’s human mom, Rose Adler, the sweet dog is a product of wrong merle to merle breeding, resulting in his blindness and deafness since birth. But despite his condition, Braille is a happy dog who loves life! Rose, however, advises breeders to be extra careful and to avoid breeding two merle dogs. Braille’s case could have been avoided if his previous owners have been more responsible.
Braille was first picked up by a woman who did know the extent of his disabilities when he was only five-weeks-old. Realizing that the dog needed special care, the woman sought help from Speak for the Unspoken, a nonprofit organization that helps dogs with disabilities. This was when Rose stepped in to help the precious dog.
Rose said she wanted to adopt a deaf puppy. In Braille’s case, she did not know that he was both deaf and blind. After meeting the sweet dog, Rose decided to adopt him – saying she could not live without him. Rose described him as a fast learner. His condition does not slow him down from mastering commands and tricks.
Braille is also a very talented Australian Shepherd. Aside from the basic tricks such as stay, come, down, and sit, Braille also learned to use a table bell. He already figured out that he gets multiple treats every time he rings it. Soon enough, Rose discovered that Braille is a talented dog – mostly after learning to press the keys of the child’s piano that Rose’s sister brought home.
Rose shared Braille’s life online by posting videos of her performing. She said she often receives messages from other owners of dogs with special needs, inspired by Braille’s perseverance. The said dog owners also wanted to help their dogs reach their maximum potential through training. As for Braille, his disabilities won’t stop him from living his life to the fullest!
