Megan Allen was browsing on Facebook when she came across a post about a big white dog who lived as a stray for an entire year named Miles. Miles always ends up being attacked by stray dogs, and he often struggles to find a cool shade where he could hide during 43-degree California weather.
Megan immediately drove to Miles’ location the following morning to save and help him find his fur-ever home. Miles quickly trusted Megan because she gave him snacks to eat, but she instantly lost the dog’s trust after showing him the leash she would use to catch him.
Miles started running away from Megan despite being offered mouthwatering snacks. He still accepted treats from time to time, but he would instantly run off as soon as he sees her holding a leash.
Megan realized that catching Miles alone would be an impossible task because he was too good at running away, so she decided to find a trapper to help her. She eventually found Danny Spanks, a dog rescuer at A SafeFurr Place Animal Rescue, after a week of searching.
Megan and Danny scheduled when they were going to rescue Miles together. He happened to arrive at the place where Miles was, so he parked his vehicle to try and approach the big stray dog.
Luckily, Danny saw a fence and a gate, which turned out to be a dog park, so he lured him inside with hotdogs. He managed to close the entrance and secure Miles in the lot without him running away.
Miles was eventually captured after the two animal rescuers teamed up to save him. Shortly after being groomed, he was immediately sent for foster care, where he learned how to interact with fellow dogs and be like a normal dog again.
