House fires are very frightening for pets. When dogs smell smoke during a fire, they sense something is wrong, and this signals them to act fast and often end up sacrificing their own lives to save the lives of their family members.
Bella, a one-year-old Cane Corso, was in a bad situation when her house burned down. Her human companions were able to flee safely, but she was stranded. As firefighters rushed inside to save her life, she was on the point of passing out.
Bella was declared lifeless by Hanover Area Fire & Rescue firefighters when they discovered her. They hauled her out of the burning house to save her life. Her body was found in the front room of the house, underneath a piano.
Bella was discovered inside the burning house by firefighter Brady Cromer, who brought her to safety. Fortunately, another firefighter named Milliken was nearby to aid. Milliken and his wife are dog rescuers who assist rescue pets in finding homes regularly. Milliken, more than anyone else, recognized that this unfortunate dog deserved a second chance at life.
The firefighters used a dog-specific oxygen mask. It eventually revived her, and firefighters examined her head to toe to ensure she was in good health. Bella stared longingly at her rescuers as if to say, “Thank you.”
Thanks to the heroic firefighters, Bella is now alive and feeling much better. She is now in good shape and in the process of recovering. She’ll need time to heal from her near-death experience, but she appears grateful to have been given a second chance.
Thankfully, no one else was really injured in the fire. During the fire rescue, a child and an adult were able to escape the house unharmed.
The origin of the electrical fire was eventually determined to be a window air conditioner on the first level. It’s frightening how quickly and unexpectedly this incident struck, but the most important thing is that everyone is now safe. The Hanover Area Fire & Rescue team performed a fantastic job revitalizing an innocent dog, and they should be recognized for their courage and quick response.
