In a nice and peaceful neighborhood, there lived a nice old lady named Sally. And when the Mazarellas moved next door in 2004, she gained new friends, not just with the Mazarella couple, Dave and Iddy, but more with their adorable St. Bernard, Brody.
Both houses didn’t have gates or fences, so Brody can freely go next door to check out their neighbor Sally. As a puppy, he would always go to Sally and peep on her windows to see where she is. He would put his paws on the window as if to knock to let the nice old lady know that he’s there.
The two would bond over anything. Sally likes to give Brody bread because he refuses dog treats. Brody would hang out with Sally while she does her gardening, and while she watches television. He would even walk with her to church, and every day, Brody would make his neighbor Sally laugh just by his very presence.
Brody grew bigger and bigger, and Sally had gotten older. Time has passed, but never their friendship. But one day, Sally had a mild heart attack, and she had to leave her home to move into a senior facility. Brody would still come by next door to peep into the windows, wondering where his friend had gone to.
The Mazarellas surprised their dear Brody and drove to see Sally in her new home. The nice old lady had just turned 95 and is doing fine, but she misses her daily visitor Brody. So when her neighbors came, she was filled with joy. This also gave Brody a sense of relief to be around his good friend again.
The family would drive Brody every week or when they could, to be with Sally. They may not do their regular thing as they did before, but they still bond with Brody just laying and hanging out with Sally. Just the comfort of being with friends is the kind of happiness enough for these two.
