A Dog Was So Happy To Be Reunited With His Mom When She Returned From Surgery

A Dog Was So Happy To Be Reunited With His Mom When She Returned From Surgery

Tanya Williams January 23, 2021

Sometimes life gives us something that we thought we don’t want. Then it turns out that it was what we needed.

Ros did not really like dogs. It was her partner, Bonnie, who wanted a dog very much. At the shelter, Bob was the one who responded when Bonnie held out her hand. Bonnie decided Bob was going to be her dog.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Bonnie had cancer and passed away. Ros and Bonnie were together for 40 years, so naturally, Ros grieved so much. Bob was very upset, too. Bob became Ros’s dog, and they comforted each other.

They had never separated ever since. However, Ros needed hip surgery, and she would have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks. She needed someone who will take care of Bob.

Ros got help from Paws New York, an organization that helps ill or older people to keep and care for their dogs when they could not do that themselves. Amy volunteered to care for Bob, and she got the job. Ros was grateful that somebody volunteered to take in Bob while she was at the hospital.

The day before the surgery, Amy went to Ros’s apartment to pick up Bob. He liked Amy instantly and willingly went with her. However, outside the apartment, Bobby seemed reluctant to leave. Amy had to pull at the leash to get him to move.

Eventually, Bob went with Amy. She took him for a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Bob seemed tired and plopped right on the sidewalk before they could reach Amy’s apartment. Amy had to carry him the rest of the way.

Amy already owned two dogs named Jacob and Nugget. She had to introduce Bob to them and make sure they could get along. They seemed to accept Bob. They let him play with their toys when Bob inspected the toy chest and took one.

The next day, Amy took Bob out for a walk and a haircut. He seemed to like to sprawl on the sidewalk like a pancake. Amy decided to give him a bath because he was very active and started to scratch himself. Amy enjoyed her time with Bob, but she knew that Bob and Ros might be missing each other.

After 18 days, Ros and Bob were finally going to be together again. As soon as Bob saw Ros, he went running to her for cuddles and kisses. It seemed that he could not get close enough. He missed her so much.

Ros was equally happy to see Bob again. He was a tremendous comfort to come home to after the surgery. He was her best friend and her life.

Amy volunteered to take him for walks every Monday morning. Ros was glad that Amy would continue to be in Bob’s life. Likewise, Amy was thankful that she got to have the opportunity to help Ros and be with Bob.
