The Wizard of Paws season 2 has already premiered last April 28 after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After realizing that dogs are underserved when it comes to prosthetics, Derrick Campana took matters into his hands.
In 2002, the man began making orthotic and prosthetic devices for dogs. With its growing popularity, Campana then built Bionic Pets in 2005.
Since then, the company has helped over 25,000 animals, mostly dogs, who faced challenges in walking. Meanwhile, the Wizard of Paws is Campana’s way of educating people about dogs with limb problems. It is a series, but unlike other series, it carries unscripted storytelling.
As its name carries, the program visits dogs in different towns and creates prosthetics for dogs in need. Campana does this because he wants to help dogs get back on their paws and make their lives better. Besides this, Campana also seeks to help make the families of the dogs whole again.
According to Campana, while dogs feel the burden of their limb problems, their fur family members likewise feel the same. As such, Campana’s prosthetics would then be instrumental for the family to be whole again.
Besides educating people about dogs with limb problems, Campana likewise seeks to address any misconceptions about prosthetics. Several people shun the idea of animal prosthetics because it is costly and unsustainable. But for Campana, the prosthetics they create are cost-effective and sustainable.
While Campana understands people’s doubts about getting prosthetics for their pets, he explained it is worth it. The advocate believes that these prosthetics will help pets gain the confidence they lost after their limb problems manifested.
Since he is touring town after town, Campana urged other dog owners who have this dilemma to take advantage of his services. For Campana, this is his contribution to different people and their pets.
