For humans, we know where to run and go in case a fire happens. However, this is not the case for dogs since they might feel confused once a fire breaks out. This was what happened to this dog named Amber, who was home alone when a fire razed their house in Florida.
The dog’s owners, Steven and Autumn Konen, were doing errands outside the house when their home caught fire. Up until now, the reason for the fire is still unclear, but thankfully, no one got harmed when it happened. However, it was a different scenario to another family member, Amber.
When the fire happened, the dog was inside the house and was clueless about what to do next. Soon after, firefighters from the Palm Coast Fire Department arrived at the scene. With them are volunteers from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office as reinforcements.
It was Deputy Jeckovich of the sheriff’s office who first noticed Amber trapped inside the house. This became possible because the officer heard the dog scratching the other side of the door. Without thinking twice, the officer rushed to find out what he can do for the poor dog.
Deputy Jeckovich has a bodycam, so when it was reviewed after the incident, his heroic act caught the attention of netizens. In the footage, the officer alerted other officers and firefighters about the dog’s situation. One firefighter then told him that the only way to rescue the dog is to smash the glass on the door.
Without hesitation, the officer ran to the door and started smashing it with a solid weapon. When the glass broke, he called the attention of Amber by whistling.
Fortunately, the dog was quick on her feet and immediately rushed to the officer. Steven and Autumn could not believe what happened but are thankful because their belove dog was safe from any harm.
