Thunder is a Pibble mix rescued by Hope Animal Rescue in Durham, North Carolina. It didn’t take long and a family adopted him and brought him home. But in less than 24 hours, this sweet boy found himself back in the shelter. The family returned him for no reason at all other than his breed.
Anne, Thunder’s foster mom at that time, was heartbroken. She knew how sweet and loving Thunder was and she couldn’t believe how the family turned him away so easily. She’s created a bond with him so she decided to adopt him instead.
Anne spent a couple of years volunteering and fostering dogs with Hope Animal Rescue. Her experience caring for dogs, Pibble mixes, in particular, made her realize she’d adopt one someday when she’s ready. And when that day came, she found Thunder.
Thunder loves his mom so much. He goes with her everywhere and shares her love for fostering puppies. So when she took home two newborn puppies, he showed interest in them right away.
Fig and Fern were only a couple of days old when they arrived in their foster home. Annie had to wake up at 3 in the morning to feed them and Thunder was always there with her. He followed along and watched as she gave them their bottles. He wanted to be part of the experience.
At 4 weeks old, the puppies began to move around a lot. They were more interested in Thunder, and it made him so happy. They started playing, and they followed him wherever he went.
Thunder served as the puppies’ role model. He taught them how to sit and stay. He also showed them how to properly behave both indoors and outdoors.
Soon enough, Fig and Fern found their new homes. Thunder was sad when they left but it wasn’t too much longer until they got another foster. He was happy to care for them, like always.
