Dogs have a far shorter lifespan than people. When medium-sized dogs turn 10 years old, they are considered old or senior dogs. Like people, old dogs become susceptible to health issues as well as aches and pains related to aging.
Sadly, many senior dogs are surrendered by their families because they don’t want to take care of them anymore. Senior dogs don’t deserve to be given away just because they’re old. As dog owners, we have to accept responsibility to take care of our beloved dogs for as long as they live.
A senior dog named Betty was already 17-years-old when her family abandoned her. Betty’s former family didn’t want to take care of her anymore and decided to surrender her to a shelter. Because Betty is already an old dog who is already living the final years of her life, people won’t want to adopt her.
Because Betty’s family abandoned her, she’s already destined that she will spend the remaining days of her life alone in the shelter. Thankfully, a couple named Belen and Mark heard about Betty’s story and decided to foster her for as long as possible. When Belen and Mark went to the shelter to get Betty, Betty had such a sad expression on her face that it almost made the couple cry.
On the ride back to her foster home, Betty was well-behaved and quiet. It seemed like Betty knew that Belen and Mark were there to rescue her and give her a new home. During the first day in her new home, Betty didn’t eat, and she spent a lot of time exploring her new surroundings. Betty was also a little nervous being around Belen and Mark.
However, when Betty understood that the people with her would take good care of her and give her lots of love, she started opening up and show her loving and sweet personality. Betty slept a lot, but she would always spend as much time as she can with her foster mom and dad whenever she’s awake.
Belen and Mark soon learned that Betty loved going on walks. Even when she’s relatively slow and seemed to struggle a little, she never fails to wake up her foster dad, Mark, to go on their morning walks. Here’s a heartwarming and adorable video showing Betty asking her foster dad to go on walks.
